Encapto supports three types of SSID configurations: "Private", "Public", and "Guest". Each of these SSIDs requires specific settings in Meraki to ensure compatibility. Every network within the organization must have the SSIDs set up for the same type at the chosen SSID number. For instance, if the Guest SSID is assigned to number 3, then all networks should apply the Guest configuration settings to SSID number 3. It's acceptable to have some network SSIDs disabled.
Private SSID
A private SSID is intended for trusted internal personnel, utilising a single shared password. It's ideal for a home or small office.

Guest SSID
A Guest SSID is ideal for managing authentication on a per-user basis.
- Security: Open (no encryption)
- Splash page: sign-on with "Meraki Cloud Authentication".
- Addressing and traffic: Select NAT mode.
- Outbound Firewall Rule: Wireless > Firewall & Traffic Shaping select the Guest SSID and deny Local LAN access.
Public SSID
A public SSID is intended for external users, such as restaurant customers or individuals in an airport. It utilises our Encapto RADIUS, which allows rate limiting and the ability to have customised promotions and advertising on the portal.
